SIS Meeting, June 27, 2012 (Wednesday evening)

The next Suncoast Information Specialists meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Tampa at the Town and Country Regional Library. Guests are always welcome and we encourage students to attend. Mark your calendars and plan to join us for a evening of professional networking and continuing education.


Program:

eBooks: What's Hot, What's Not.  Sue Polanka will Skype into our meeting and will review the latest information on ebook trends such as business models, new technologies, statistics, and innovations in libraries. Sue Polanka created the award-winning blog, No Shelf Required ®, a blog about the issues surrounding e-books for librarians and publishers. Sue is Head of Reference and Instruction at the Wright State University Libraries in Dayton, Ohio and the Vice President / President Elect of the Academic Library Association of Ohio, She was named a Library Journal 2011 Mover and Shaker for her work with e-books.

Town 'N Country Regional Public Library is a 28,000 square foot facility that became part of the Town "N Country Commons, a two story complex that also houses a Head Start facility, a Senior Center and is adjacent to Shimberg Gardens. Construction was completed in 2008 and the Town 'N Country Commons had a Grand Opening ceremony on December 3rd, 2008.

Food:

 The food is optional; however if you RSVP to have a meal, please consider it an obligation to pay even if you cannot make the meeting,  since SIS must turn in the headcount for lunch in advance.

Cost: $10.00, payable by check or cash at the meeting.
         $10.50, payable by credit card in advance (see link below)

There is no charge for attending the program only. Cancellation of your meal order after the deadline date still obligates you to the cost.
