Call for Nominees for 2013 Officers

Hello SIS members.

Calling for nominees for officers of the Suncoast Information Specialists for 2013.  Our election will be held at the October meeting.  The Election Slate will be announced on Monday, September 24.

One of the agenda items for our October meeting will be to vote on the newly proposed Bylaws.  We will hold this vote first.  The new bylaws will change the term of Treasurer from one year to two, and will add two elected positions of Director.  If these Bylaws pass the slate will consist of these elected positions:

Vice-President/President-Elect (Jan 2013-Dec 2013)
Secretary -- One year term  (Jan 2013-Dec 2013) 
Treasurer -- Two year term  (Jan 2013-Dec 2014)  
Director A (Jan 2013-Dec 2013)
Director B (Jan 2013-Dec 2013) 

The roles for each position include:

• VICE PRESIDENT/PRESIDENT-ELECT (VP/PE): The VP/PE will assist the President
and in the absence of the President will perform all duties of the office. The VP/PE is the
Chair of the Program Committee and coordinates arrangements and programs for
meetings. The VP/PE will succeed the President.

• SECRETARY: The Secretary causes minutes of the meeting to be recorded; conducts
correspondence as needed; and coordinates membership mailings as necessary. The
Secretary oversees the electronic voting process and collects, tallies, and reports
electronic votes.
The Secretary shall maintain a file of all policies and procedures promulgated by the

• TREASURER: The Treasurer collects dues, pays bills approved by the President, keeps
an account of receipts and expenditures and submits a financial report at meetings.

• DIRECTORS:  Directors serve as voting members of the Executive Board and may be
assigned to serve on specific committees. Directors are responsible for communicating
about organization activities and issues related to library service of all types with

You will most certainly learn a lot by serving on the Executive Board of SIS.  Please consider tossing your hat in the ring.  Think about it, you could be elected to office before the national campaign ends in November.
